I was a smoker for about 8 years, trying to quit several times, through various methods.

Ecigs were the only one that worked. It took a few tries, and finding the right vape, but after about 3 years I dropped cigarettes for good, and ecigs after another year.

The thing lots of the health community ignores is that nicotine is mostly the initial hook. A strong willed person can overcome nicotine addiction after a few weeks.

The real addiction is breaking the habits and the reward cycle that were formed. I still struggle with some of these problems periodically but it is easier to overcome now.

Cigs got me into taking routine breaks at work to clear my mind. Going through the motions of pulling out a cig, lighting it, etc develops into a comfort when associated with stress relief.

Ecigs alleviate the physical addiction and worse of symptoms without forcing a full dismantle of the mental ones at the same time. It lets you quit piecemeal.
