I started riding a bike for the first time in 15 years and i'm really enjoying it. The roads are really quiet because of Corona so i feel more confident and have more interesting routes to do rather than just doing the cycle path/shared route.

I started slow only doing sub3 miles a day which meant i feel like cycling more often instead of feeling like i got hit by a bus because i did too much at once (like i usually do when i start something new). Today i did a 7.5 mile ride and felt good, it was very windy though so it made the ride feel much tougher. I swear it was in my face the entire ride. lmao.

It is crazy how much of a difference that headwind can make.

Ugh, the quarantine is definitely putting a damper on my style. Haven't climbed or lifted real weights in weeks. Luckily I have managed so far to stay in alright shape. Trying to do yoga and different bodyweight exercises 4-5x/week. I may have even lost some weight from drinking less beer (I try not to drink alone too often) and from eating less restaurant food.

I've been walking 5 - 10 km every other day, rain or shine, just to get the ants out of my brain. I don't think I've ever seen so many different birds in my life, the squirrels are practically holding orgies on the path, and the shortage of people is refreshing. On the other hand, weight-bearing exercise is definitely harder on the joints than swimming and aquatics - I need the day in between walks for recovery.

I'm still hesitant about bicycling; it's too easy to really f*ck myself up if I crash (not a great use of healthcare resources if this happens), and my spouse isn't in great shape to accompany me.

The trainer from my weight gym is holding video check-ins for accountability on bodyweight exercises, so I'm trying to keep up with that.
