I realized after a year of training that the reason I couldn't really go below depth when squatting was because my legs were too far apart. Now I have a more narrow stance and am doing much better.

Also, I never really was a "low carb" person but I started eating around half the amount of carbs I normally do and noticed a lot of that excess water weight isn't really there anymore, which is good since i'm cutting now.

Just curious, how far apart are we talking? Wider than shoulder-width?

Yeah it was a little wider than that when I first started.

Carbs are, at least for me, a very easy way to cut caloric density out of meals. Taco salad instead of tacos. Lettuce wrap instead of burger buns. Stuff like that can cut the calories of a meal in half for me, easily. So, I'm not really anti-carb either, but I find it's a very easy way to cut calories if your diet is running a little rich lately.

So, since the last thread I bit the bullet and bought a Kickr Core indoor trainer. Stuck an 8 speed cassette on it to use my old hard tail mountain bike on (though I forgot how uncomfortable it is to be on compared to my gravel grinder...may need to make some fit adjustments).

So far I think it's really great - I haven't gotten around to trying any of the "virtual riding" apps yet, but maybe in the future (or perhaps next winter). For now its purpose is just to get me to a point where I can start the outdoors riding season without gasping for air after 5 miles!

If anyone has any suggestions for companion apps (preferably free to start with), I'm all ears.

OH MY GOD I JUST CAME BACK FROM SKATING!

I'm so incredibly happy. The lakes in Belgium froze the other day but I didn't know of a good spot. One of my friends scouted one for me yesterday and I went today with a good friend of mine from the rink!

I'm so fucking ecstatic. I had given up on the idea of skating in the wild for this year and it happened anyway! Especially since the other day Belgium came up with the ridiculous ruling that lakes by the forest agency will not be available for skating because it's "too dangerous with COVID around" -- utter BS. This particular lake is a private property so it's skateable :)

I don't even know if this counts as a fitness update anymore but hey, I GOT TO TRY MY NEW BOOTS! ❤️

I’ve been mixing Ring Fit Adventure into my routine again for some light strength work. It’s been nice to get back into it! Aside from that, I’m doing better about this eating the right amount of calories to maintain my new low(er) weight. Pretty odd how cutting for around six months has changed my appetite.
