About two months ago I mentioned I was really struggling with planks in one of these threads. Yesterday for the first time ever I held a modified side plank for a full minute! I'm pretty proud of myself and I am going to try the full side plank next week with the goal of building that up to 30 seconds to start.

Also I don't know what it is about the last two workouts I did, but the DOMS has been really bad for me this week. I was going to say it's especially the quads and hips/glutes area, but I just checked in with myself and really it's everything except my calves that's sore. Bleh.

That is awesome!! Congrats on the improvement! DOMS are definitely not awesome, though.

Recently invested in a set of resistance bands to make up for the lack of weight training this past year. I'd really recommend them for those who are missing that muscle burn aspect of fitness. To be honest I've gotten so used to working out from home that I may just forget the gym altogether once it reopens.

I think they're great too. I really like working my lats and shoulders with them, while torso twists were invented by Satan to target me, specifically, for earthly torture. Which I suppose means I should do more of them.

I also find leg resistance bands (I've seen them called... sigh... booty bands) really do help target the... glutes. I use them for hip thrusts and frog pumps.

Yes, very cheap and very easy to store in comparison to free weights, extremely versatile as well.

I missed my Thursday yoga class last week due to work, but this week I'm on it!! I've been forgetting to get myself a yoga mat, since I have carpet, but it'd be very useful to have a block and strap haha. But I'm super excited at the progress I've made! The first few classes were really hard for me. They're still a workout now, but I no longer feel like I'm going to die from holding downward facing dog or doing a high plank for more than 10 seconds. I've been debating on swimming at my local rec center, but I'm gonna wait until I'm vaccinated to get back to that.

I've been doing crossfit between 4 and 5 times a week for the past few years. Recently, I started getting concerned about joint injuries as I've had a few close calls due to fatigue before, so I limited my membership to 3x a week, and supplementing that with conventional heavy free weightlifting at a big box gym for two of the other days a week, and yoga on the weekends. I'm struggling to come up with a good regimen at my other gym to compliment the crossfit though. I keep running into situations where I'm squatting one day, and then the workout in crossfit involves squatting the very next day, which obviously isn't ideal.
I'd love to stick to a set regimen, but having to constantly modify my workouts to fit the classes is so frustrating. Eventually I hope to settle into something that's workable. I'm just worried about getting the worst of both worlds here though.
