Fitness Weekly Discussion
What have you been doing lately for your own fitness? Try out any new programs or exercises? Have any questions for others about your training? Want to vent about poor behavior in the gym? Started a new diet or have a new recipe you want to share? Anything else health and wellness related?
Today I squatted the most I've squatted in the past two years! 225 for 2 sets. 1st set was 2 reps, seconds was 3!
In response to a previous weekly discussion almost exactly a month ago(!), (Calling @kyotja) I still wouldn't say that I've settled on a "system" per-se, but I have been working out enough to have started following a pattern. Gym visits have dropped slightly to two per week for the past week or two, but I was also working through a slight "episode" of some sort, so I think I'll be improving to 3 again soon. I generally try to focus on compound workouts as the main lifts, and then one or two muscle focused exercises. Since I've had only two visits per week I have ended up combining compound workouts in the same day several times. You will see squats + benching I believe. Ideally, I'll be taking a rather basic approach of the following:
Then mix and match to whatever works for you. You can do Push/Pull split, related muscle groups split, etc
I've exported all of the exercises that I've ever logged in my tracking application; Fitnotes. History should go back as far as April 2018. You can find the csv here. Yes there are some long gaps in there, but at least I keep coming back! This will show you not only what I've been doing recently, but what I was doing a while back as well!
Thanks for the detailed write-up, and congrats on the personal record! Also, wow at that CSV, you have been keeping great records for quite some time! That's more impressive than the PR :) I may have to take a page out of your book.
After a lull, my skating skills are visibly improving once more. Most improvements are around stability and posture. I'm working on new jumps and spin entrances.
But more importantly, I've started Beat Saber again and last night I beat Reason for Living, Expert+, 120% speed, disappearing arrows, in Full Combo!

I'm so happy! It's my first full combo in Expert+, primarily because I never play at 100% speed anymore. Landed at #183 worldwide which is really low for what I feel is a very good run lol. I've scored top 20 on much worse. But to be fair this is OST3, it's been around for ages and it's a free map.
I've been going to the gym for 2 months. I'm the same weight as I started. I want to lose fat but I think I enjoy using the gym and gaining strength regardless. I just can't stop binge eating due to loneliness, boredom, stress.
Same. I have been pretty consistent in using my exercise bike for 30m-1hr, 3 times a week, for most of this year, but I am not losing any weight either because of my increased stress/boredom eating too. :/ Ah well, at least my legs are stronger, and my cardio has dramatically improved.
Regardless of the number, sounds like you have made some huge improvements! I know that even if I have not reduced the number, I enjoy doing this so that's fine. And I'll probably start to lose eventually.
I’ve been working out since late September. I can now do LAT Pulls with 100~ pounds, I can bench 80 pounds, and I do bicep curls with 60 pounds. The muscles in my arms are noticeable now. I also feel so much stronger. I can lift up a person easily now (depending on how much they weigh of course).
Last week was not a great cycling week for me, but I did get out a couple of times over the weekend. Today is two-for-two commuting to work by bike, so that's good! Definitely feeling the winter blues and looking forward to more daylight.
Finally got my YMCA gym membership last Monday and have been going every day since (in fact, twice a day that Tuesday/Wednesday/Thursday). Mostly pyramiding up on the big compound lifts and dropping back down to starting weight and higher reps .. mostly because after doing higher weight/lower reps, dropping down feels easy and pads my ego 💪. Also adding a buncha accessory work as "extra credit."
Still getting into the swing of things as this is the first time I've been lifting in ~2 years (though, I maintained a pretty decent bodyweight routine through 2020-present), so I'm not very strict on my programming, yet (though I am at least trying to up the weight, here and there). Hitting those compounds at least twice a week + the accessory stuff works for me, at the moment. Plus, it's pretty fun!
