Best of luck to you. I've followed a bit of /r/askbiblescholars and like what you're doing there. I've been looking for a good audiobook that discusses the bible in historical context. I'm imagining some of those annotated Shakespeare books where a lot of explanation and detail is provided in the annotations. I'm not sure how'd that work over audio but I'm looking for something with that level of explanation.

    Any recommendations?

Neat idea. Do you envision it being a CrashCourse like channel? I could definitely see that format/style working well for Biblical Scholarship, and would absolutely be interested in watching that myself (despite being an atheist), especially if you cover some History related to the topics as well.

Sweet. Sounds great to me. Can't wait to see what you all come up with. Subbed and donated a few bucks to hopefully get you a bit closer to getting an animator. :) p.s. I would definitely second...

p.s. I would definitely second the recommendation of trying to get something on your patreon to help attract more attention. Even just a quick little pitch video would probably go a long way toward convincing people your project is worth donating to.

Am I correct in saying that the goal of this isn't to indoctrinate, but to critically examine the Bible in a somewhat neutral manner? Or at least in a manner that isn't a thinly veiled attempt to witness at folks? If so I'm excited for this. I'm agnostic, but I've got 18 years of church and Christian schooling lodged in my head and I may as well put it to use by examining it in a scholarly manner :)

Also, I would suggest you create a video or two before you start pushing this too much, especially with a Patreon link attached. I get the financial reasons for it, but how many people are going to be comfortable giving money to a YouTube channel without any videos? And I think having an episode would go a long way to diffuse situations like the discussion surrounding the earlier posting of this. It seems like the kneejerk reaction to this was "oh great, a bunch of Christians trying to convert people on YouTube". But if you've got an episode showing that's not the case, then you can just point to it and tell people to piss off.
