Being a literal Nazi is legal as long as you don't hurt anyone, but being trans is a problem?

But the children.
I wish I had the answer but I think it's mostly that people - trans people and queer people more broadly - who violate the "rules" of society are seen to undermine the very nature of society itself. For people that believe strongly in biological (and theological) essentialism, a trans woman isn't just a "threat" to the safety of women in bathrooms, she's evidence that their worldview is bullshit.
If women can work, can wear pants, can divorce, can control their money, can control their fertility, etc. and this is the downfall of society, adding marrying other women and it's surprising we're not smote immediately. If trans women, trans men, non-binary folks can reject the idea that birth sex is destiny and that binary gender is not the only option, then surely the meteor will take us soon. How dare they.
It's not just sexuality, this is the same behavior we saw by racist people in power: how dare Black people step outside the roles ascribed to them, how dare they create a Black Wall Street, how dare they get elected to government positions during reconstruction.
The rage gets directed at anyone threatens the system - while ignoring that many of those essentialists are the only ones that buy into that system to begin with.

Let people happy and let them do what they want so long as they aren't hurting others.
Religion is supposed to be about loving your fellow man... unless they're gay/trans, don't follow your specific brand of religion, or just generally don't share your beliefs.
As a side note, Christians judging gay people who aren't Christian is the dumbest shit ever. If we just take it as fact that the bible says in no uncertain terms that being gay is bad (it probably does but anyways) what the fuck does that have to do with a non Christian? Like mind your own damn business and let them go to hell or whatever in the afterlife without making their current lives harder for no reason. The world isn't built just to suit you.
I also don't get how there are millions of religions all around the world and most people are totally convinced that they were magically born into the only correct one. Even as a kid that fact was enough to keep me from being able to "trust and obey" in blind faith.
I'm so, so tired of Republicans attacking anyone who doesn't fit in their nest little box of what they find acceptable. And I say that as a straight, white man. Like, can you just let people live...

Imagine if someone were to come along and try to cure them of hunting or religion.
