    The amount it would take me to kick a child out of my house is unbelievable. Like to keep myself/partner/other hypothetical children safe levels of danger would have to be involved.

    I cannot imagine not loving your child this much even though I see it every year as someone gets their college funding cut off for being gay or trans or whatever it is. Sigh so much sadness today.

      I feel like even to keep someone else safe, I would try to organize somewhere else for them to go rather than just leaving them to figure it out. Even if it was an immediate situation where I had to physically remove them and bolt the door, the next thing I would do would be to get on the phone and try to call around to find a safe place with people that could help them.

        Agreed, it's one of those "once you know a thing" and I'm familiar with situations where the child has severe enough mental health that they're threatening siblings, the parent(s) and it's genuinely unsafe. Parents will sometimes surrender their child to the state to ensure they get enough treatment as well.

        It's still a last resort among last resorts.
