Marlow (my cat, who had his eye removed just a month ago or so), has come down with pneumonia somehow. None of our other cats have it, so idk how he got it. But yeah. Four years ago, I lost my absolute best buddy McTavish to pneumonia, and aside from the missing eye, Marlow looks just like McTavish. So I'm reliving that.

However, Marlow is five years younger than McTavish was when he passed, so I'm hoping this time will turn out better. Marlow already has his anti biotics. He was given extra fluids for the weekend since the clinic is closed, and his breathing is back to a normal rate. His appetite isn't great, despite the appetite stimulant (which surprisingly goes in his ears) and the anti nausea/decongestant nasal drops. However, he is eating a small bit (nibbling on kibble and licking the gravy off his prescribed digestive care wet food), he's no longer hiding under the coffee table, and he's even interested in playing a bit.

He chooses to stay outside and cries when he can't. It's about 90F out there and more humid than indoors, so I guess it's okay. It might help his nose and lungs clear up. He hovers over his water, sniffing, but doesn't drink. He had fluids yesterday, and I keep checking with the skin elasticity test, so for now, he's still hydrated. Oh, and he is still eating his cheese whiz.

He has another x-ray visit scheduled for wednesday to check on his lungs and digestive areas.

Here he is, during his one-on-one time with me in a steamy bathroom (he doesn't particularly like being cooped up though and has actually started to bite the door).

Also, his first birthday is this coming Thursday! Hope he feels better before it comes, but we WILL be celebrating whenever he feels better if not on Thursday. Better late than never. Does anyone know how to celebrate a cat's birthday?

Tough it out lil' dude. He looks like a yowler, and I mean that nicely!

He is definitely a yowler, for sure! And he doesn't really get told no a whole lot except when he chews on my plastic flowers. Might just buy a big ham, cover it in cheeze whiz like frosting, and...

At the zoo they do cakes with (kinda and quantity of) food that's naturally part of their diet, and dress it up. You know those cat yogurt squeeze tubes? Maybe make a very small "cake" using fish...

You know those cat yogurt squeeze tubes? Maybe make a very small "cake" using fish fillet as sponge layer, "frosted" with cat yogurt and decorated with treats? Other decoration idea, freeze ice into cute shapes, and shredded ice chips as decore

Although I first thought the cat was just chilling in the box, the tail is saying something different. Is it gentle play, or hell’s cat stuck in a box type of play?

For some reason she really really wanted to be in the cereal box. If we wave at her from the front she can flow right through :) and don't worry, she's got both hind legs outside the box which means she can do the "evisceration kick" maneuver to get unstuck if she didn't want to go through

Thank you! He's doing quite well now (Tuesday morning). He has gone number one and two in the litter box, and he's eating dry food and drinking water on his own again. He is still slightly dehydrated, so tomorrow, when he goes in for his second round of xrays, I'm going to ask they give him fluids again (this time hopefully with electrolytes). He even chases a few flies around and plays with his toys for a few minutes. Not as much as he does usually, so he's not at 100% yet ofc. But we're hardly halfway through with his treatment.

Dash is actually a giant softie, very careful with his claws when he's climbing onto my shoulder. But he's ticklish.
