I was sad to not see anything here so here you go! Picture of my dog Luna with a new toy I got her yesterday. Luna is about 7 and a half. Golden retriever. She does agility with my wife. For a golden, she’s a bit on the serious side, she’s smart and not too goofy, though she is still playful. Loves running and chasing the ball or frisbee, playing tug. In winter she also loves to slide down snowy or icy slopes in the leash-free area.
That's just a beautiful picture. Really nice.
Thank you :-)
What a pretty girl! I have a similar sea otter stuffie, does she like hers?
What does it mean for dogs to do agility?
Thank you :-) She is a pretty girl. She liked the toy yesterday but today she kind of forgot about it. Spoiled!
Agility refers to running those obstacle courses. There are a few other “dog sports” and activities. One popular one is conformation which is where they just show the dogs and look pretty - not our cup of tea. Field is where they retrieve some sort of dead bird or fake dead bird type object. While I think Luna would love this, the dead bird part is a hard no for us. I did some scent detection with her too where the dogs find a hidden scent capsule in a room. She is pretty good at that. But agility is definitely the activity keeping us busy: practice, classes, competitions.
Do you have a dog?
When I was a kid our family had a dog-dog, eg, she was not considered part of the family, kinda dog. Her name was Dolly and she was a german sheperd-mix, very smart, and very good girl. I don't think I have the right personality to provide dogs with the attention, activity and love they deserve. So we have a cat, plus outside animals that are living their best outside lives. I would love part time access to a very large fluffy Great Pyrenees or Samoyed that someone else takes care of, tough.
Lilly and Dash each decided I'd been working too hard (translation: ignoring them) and tapped my elbow gently for attention, taking turns.
What beautiful cats! Also look like they take no nonsense. I hope you met their cuddle quota!
They definitely don't take nonsense, but they certainly dispense it.
They are so beautiful!
Thank you - I can't take credit, they're what the cat allocation system (i.e. a couple of local rescue organizations) provided.
Also, Dash as a lap-hugging toasted marshmallow.
I wish dogs purred.
