Nick Offerman’s annual family trip was always to the same lake in Minnesota, where he was taught things that really matter

Nick Offerman is a delight! I love his writing!
I just love him in general, but especially so after his appearance in The Last of Us. By taking that role, I love how strong a message he sent to the intolerant, bigoted portion of his fanbase (which there were a lot of due to Ron Swanson idolatry in the manosphere).
Which is strange because Ron ws far from a bigot, he really couldn’t care less what other people did with their lives as long as they had integrity.
I havent watched the show and never will, would you like to expand on this? What sort of message did he send?
He was a gay survivalist prepper, and there was on-screen affection displayed.
"Fuck you, I don't want you intolerant bigots as fans" was the message, sent loudly and proudly.
As @zipf_slaw said, Offerman played a gay survivalist prepper in the show, but it was so much more than just "affection" being displayed. It was an open, unashamed portrayal of true love between two men, and was one of the most beautiful, heartwarming, but also heartbreaking portrayals of that I have ever seen in a general audience focused TV show.
p.s. Even if you have no intention of ever watching all of Last of Us, I highly recommend watching episode 3, which focuses entirely on Bill and Frank (Offerman and Murray Bartlett's characters). It's essentially a standalone episode so you don't need to watch any other episodes in order to understand it, and it shows their complete story arcs.
thank you for the elaboration on my all-too-trite response. well said
That was charming. I wish I had a family like that.
