I would want like a 1 month summer break instead of 3 months. Summer break was always too long for me--I would develop poor habits, boredom, and my family was always poor so our house usually wasn't air conditioned (or at least not very much).
I didn't have too many issues with forgetting things over break, but I was a really good student. The majority of kids have major problems with this, and I still had SOME problems.
There's really no reason not to do stuff like this. American work culture would do well implement similar practices. I'd even be more comfortable working 4 ten hour days a week, instead of 5 eight...

If the paycheck is the same every week, then why does it matter if it's 8 or 10 other than for timely reasons?

I've seen job postings at tech companies that offer "half-day every other Friday" which seems like it would be similar. When it's nice out, half the office finds an excuse to leave early anyway,...

When it's nice out, half the office finds an excuse to leave early anyway, so by making it explicit they raise employee morale and probably don't lose much at all in terms of employee productivity / hours spent actually working.

So if you leave on Saturday, you basically have the rest of the day and then maybe some of Sunday. You have to be back Sunday night. So you don't even get a full 24 hours to just not worry.
With a 3 day weekend, you aren't as burnt out on Thursday, so leaving that night is fine. Even if you leave Friday, you can spend ALL of Saturday doing anything you like, and then Sunday you can come home. You can actually get a real vacation.

I wish my job would do anything even remotely close to this. They used to, but they decided that happy employees are harder to grind down
