Where the fuck are these people watching movies?! Granted, I haven't lived in India in almost three years, but I don't remember even the more expensive multiplexes being that expensive. Perhaps...

A movie date with snacks can cost somewhere around 2,500 rupees to an upper-middle class couple.

But overall, the article mostly checks out. Thanks for the share! I'll be sending it in a few different places. :)

In Delhi pvr(quite a premier theater) tickets cost about 250 rupees per head and in Bangalore they cost about 200 rupees. I know snacks cost a lot in multiplexes but who is paying 2k for snacks lmao.

Yeah, that lines up with what I'd expect...

2500 is an upper middle class movie date in Indian metros. Good seats at a late night show, plus popcorn and a drink, easily cost 2k. But it's strange to put that figure in this piece, imo.

Very interesting. Perhaps I wasn’t in a position to spend that much when I lived in India. We did think we were upper middle class, but I also do recognize it has its range. Thanks!

If the average income of Delhi residents really is 4k USD, it would make sense.

I actually want to see a distribution for that figure. I should try and find one.
