Furries!
I'm curious how many other furries (if any) have came here so far, and have a couple questions:
- Which furry communities did you participate in the most on Reddit?
- Which of those communities, if any, do you think would work well on Tildes?
Personally, I'm very partial to furry_irl, since there's a lot of friendly discussion in the comments, but I'm not sure the post content would fit very well here, unless fluff content was allowed.
To anyone confused, this and this are very brief introductions to what a furry is.
Why did you tag this submission as 'trash?'
Because it is well accepted in the furry community that all furries are trash.
yep
Ohai! I was thinking about making a post like this, glad someone did it for me :D
I think /r/furry would definitely fit here - maybe as ~creative.furry or something, since it's mostly art.
/r/furry_irl on the other hand... personally I like it a lot, there's just such a nice (degenerate) community there. I recognize that it might not fit the goals of ~ though, it does contain a lot of fluff/low effort content.
Regarding all the porn subs - I think there was consensus that these are not appreciated (yet?).
It'll probably be a while before this becomes actually relevant though, not even things like ~auto exist yet.
I was hesitant to post it, since i figured it'd get a lukewarm or negative reaction, but eventually decided to give it a shot.
While I agree /r/furry is probably more in-line with what tildes' goal is, I'm not really a big fan of it - I'm trash enough that degeneracy is a required part of the metaphorical balanced breakfast :P
Overall, though, i'm not sure if any of the community would be considered non-fluff, or if any of it would fit here, even though i'd like to hope so - thus far, the site seems to be more information oriented than anything.
I certainly wouldn't complain if a talented artist just happened to have finished a cute piece and decided to post it to ~creative... just to see what happens.
/r/furry is nice for when you just want to look at amazing art, but not much else, that's true. furry_irl is... something else, and it's awesome. And should probably stay on reddit for now.
/r/FurryIRL subscriber here! I'm not really into the furry community as I used to be, more into MLP..... anyways, I don't really know what this site's stance on porn. Or if something like that would be allowed considering how low effort memes can be sometimes.
To be honest, I think this site is a bit too new to have a big furry community; hell, it doesn't really even have an anime community yet.
Oh look, another Brony! (I'm not a furry though.)
I think that since the topic tags documentation specifically mentions NSFW stuff, it might be allowed eventually.
I think that the site might be young, but communities for bronies and furries would probably be better to make since people tend to be more averse and outright hostile to our content, whereas anime is generally much more accepted online.
IIRC @deimos has said he is undecided on that yet but that he is leaning towards not allowing it simply because of the resources required to deal with it effectively, such as legal compliance, copyright takedown notices, age verification, etc. So unless ~ grows large enough to afford enough employees to handle those processes, it's unlikely to be allowed.
Yeah, I think the stigma has died down a lot, especially when I entered the mlp fandom back in 2014. Most of it I think was backlash against something popular (That was the reason in my case, also edgyness. I know a furry hating bronies is pretty hypocritical, eh?).
I certainly think it'll get better for both communities.
Well, I'm one, but I'm not particularly active. I'm a mostly friendly grizzly bear.
I'm not a furry, but I'm friends with at least two. They aren't on tildes though. :s
Oh I'm sure there will be plenty soon, definitely after the next invite wave ;)
ah i should clarify, i meant 'they' as in my two furry friends, not that there are no furries here at all. :P
I actually didn't really participate in any furry communities on reddit, for the most part my involvement with the community is limited to E6 comment sections, furry discords, and just overall being open about being one and talking about it with others who are open about it wherever. Because that I really don't have much input on what style of community lends itself to this type of site, the most I could say is I'd be very excited to participate in whatever we decide upon, lewd or not. (although I have no art of my own to contribute)
damn, a furry community already? the only thing i know is stuff i see on r/creepyasterisks. can someone be straight with me and tell me, what do furries actually think? is it a sexuality? a real belief??
Not a furry, but as far as I understand the reasons people are a furry are wide ranging. So much so that the only encompassing definition of "furry" is someone with an affinity for anthropomorphic animals.
I remember reading a post on reddit a while back with a bunch of statistics collected from furry redditors. A lot of furries somehow incorporated being a furry with their sexuality, but not all did. WRT "beliefs", I'm sure that the other-kin people that have reached meme-tier status would often consider themselves furries.
