Tildes Video Thread

So, quite a few people don't like/watch video content, and don't like seeing the homepage filled with videos. Let's try something new, see if it sticks.

What are the best videos you have watched this past week/fortnight?

Via my recommendations, I started watching a new Let's Play channel called Mapocolops. I'm currently going through his Outer Wilds and Hollow Knight series (HK is ongoing). I like his playstyle a lot.

    Shifter

A super small channel with 72,000 subscribers, Shifter wiggled their way into my YouTube feed to great effect with their urban cycling content.

I'm slowly working my way through their back catalogue. Like this great video on comparissons between Calgary in Canada and Oulu in Finland when it comes to winter cycling. Or this video on cycling superhighways in London.

So much great transport content has hard to watch content creators in front of the camera; but not this guy. He's got a great rhythm and a natural charm.

Apparently he was picked up by A24 for a movie adaptation at 17 years old, so I was trying to see the appeal. Production quality is amazing, and he definitely has a way with atmosphere, but I'm not getting much in the way of horror through the YouTube content.

Maryll Abbas and friends - "La Culebra"

"La Culebra" ("the Snake") is a song from the traditional repertoire of Merengue típico from the Dominican Republic. Here's an excellent performance by a French accordionist.

I found this video: Jackass, Skating Videos, and Academy Awards: Spike Jonze. And it mostly talks about Spike Jonze influence among skaters, and then how his career evolved beyond skate videos

How Una Pizza Napoletana Became the No. 1 Ranked Pizza in the World — Handmade

This video follows pizza maker Roberto Caporuscio as he explains his 27-year journey of perfecting his pizza-making techniques. He uses a variety of flours, a starter called a madre, and Sicilian sea salt to create his dough. He also uses San Marzano tomatoes, buffalo mozzarella, and a mix of oak, birch, apple, cherry, and maple wood to create the perfect pizza. He also reveals some of his secrets, such as adding more water in the last five minutes of the mix and cutting the ends off of the tomatoes. He also reveals his superstitious technique of cutting a cross in the dough for good luck. His goal is to keep perfecting his pizza-making techniques until he drops dead.

    "It's very rhythmic, making pizza.
The micro adjustments that make it magical are all rhythmic."

And there is something rhythmically hypnotic about this particular video
