    I saw Top Gun: Maverick last night. It's a very good film! The first half looks back on Top Gun in nostalgia, and the second half tries to wrap up the plot gently peppered in the first half, and it works.

    I think the thing that surprised me was how traditional it was in terms of story and plot beats. It felt like a film that could've been made in the 80s with how conventional it was (it was still excellent).

    I can't tell if I really enjoyed it because it was a good film, it had a conventional feel-good story, or if it wasn't a superhero movie.
