Globes noms are usually pretty weird and hard to predict though. I had predicted Elvis in director early on and I wish I just stuck with it. That was pure Globes bait.

Edit: in terms of the Oscar race. Women Talking severely underperformed. It missed Drama Picture, no acting nominations, no director nomination. It’s probably still fine in getting nominated, but winning anything outside of Adapted Screenplay is out of the question.

EEAAO performed much better than it was supposed to. Most people thought it would only either get Screenplay or Director, it got both, and it got into Supporting Actress.

Babylon underperformed missing Director and Screenplay, but still got a decent haul of nominations.

Other notable snubs: Tom Cruise in Lead Actor Drama, Danielle Deadwyler in Lead Actress Drama for Till, Janelle Monae in Supporting Actress for Glass Onion, Paul Dano in Supporting Actor for The Fabelmans, Naomi Ackie in Lead Actress Drama for I Wanna Dance With Somebody, and Avatar in both Score and Original Song.

Maybe a silly question, but why/how are movies like Avatar nominated when they haven't even been released yet?

When Tina and Amy hosted the Globes a couple of years back, they cracked a joke about it saying “celebrating all the movies that have been in theaters for two weeks.”
