Thank god we aren't getting rid of Direct Current.
I'm beyond tired of superheroes. I'm positively exhausted. If I hear someone else talking about them I find myself needing to sit down.
It would be easy to blame DC's tepid response in the theaters on the terrible producers putting out bad movies, but they're not the only ones to blame. Most of the newer marvel projects have been pretty bad as well. They're not terrible by any means, but the more that comes out the more that it feels like they're just making roller coasters that exist only to set up something that will eventually happen in the future. And when "the future" actually happens, they just keep passing the buck to the next thing. And in the meanwhile the characters have become stale and uninteresting and the quality of the writing has gotten demonstrably worse.
Gunn heading the DC films is a great thing; he's probably the only decent filmmaker who actually gets the source material. His Suicide Squad was so much better than the earlier attempt that thinking about both of them together brings tears to my eyes. But it's just not quite enough to renew my interest in DC. I honestly have no idea why they made Black Adam; I've seen lots of DC properties in the past and I have absolutely no clue who that is supposed to be, so I completely skipped that movie. And as far as Shazam goes, the first movie was fine, but I never cared about the character of Shazam and the movie didn't make me care any more, therefore I have no interest in the sequel either. I'll admit that some of the previews showed a glimpse of promise, but I'm just not interested enough to invest in yet another movie.
Nothing to say about the article itself, but the way the advertising border pulsed enough on mobile to block the left side of the article was incredibly annoying.
