I’ve got to admit to having a massive soft spot for musician biopics, corny or not. Even ones about musicians whose music I don’t particularly care about can usually hook me.

Walk Hard is an amazing movie and I would highly recommend giving it a watch sometime! With you liking biopics so much, did you see the new Weird Al movie?

Thanks for reminding me about the Weird Al movie. I really need to get on that.

I don't think it came anywhere close to destroying the musical biopic. It was just an extremely well done parody. There were dozens of other musical biopics in the 2010s and they all had the same ridiculous formula the author mentions. Rocketman, The Runaways, Straight Outta Compton, Love and Mercy, Good Vibrations, The Buddy Holly Story, Jersey Boys, The Dirt, Miles Ahead.

Walk Hard is hilarious but I really think claiming it almost killed a genre is exaggeration. It was very well done and box office numbers do not translate to how funny a comedy is.

This is such a great rewatchable satire and I hadnt really thought about the fact that the genre just disappeared for a bit because of it. Looks like thats changed though (Elvis comes to mind)
