I’m currently learning Norwegian. I’ve been using Memrise, Duolingo, and Anki flashcards for vocab, using youtube videos and reading childrens books and now newspapers to try to get grammar down, and have been fortunate enough to travel to Oslo a couple times this year to practice! I enjoy watching tv shows and listening to music in norsk mainly to track where my comprehension is at.

TikTok’s version of horizontalism is so fascinating. In a similar vein, once BookTok took off on there they began taking steps to start their own publishing house.

His own publisher (one of the largest publishers) not only helped facilitate the self-pub but also still has a great relationship with Sanderson. I also think the media narrative success was bigger than the actual success (the realities of publishing 5 books yourself are quite difficult and as I understand it this was more of a “curious if I can” thing from Sanderson).

So like maybe another publishing house wanted a hit piece? But his own is happy to revel in the Sanderson sun.

I prefer the recommendations on StoryGraph to goodreads. They are heavily weighted by "mood" (basically a bunch of attributes that are ascribed through a mix of user reviews and machine learning) in conjunction with your ratings of past books and books on your to-read list. But I think mood is their primary stat.

This bit is what really gets me. Greed is driving the thing but their attempt at providing an excuse is just that they’re inept? I’m sure they’ll go on making money but the failure in leadership/execution has to impact the IPO right?

Reddit: "We don't want to kill third-party apps"
That is what you achieved. So you are either very inept at making plans that accomplish a goal, you're lying, or both.

exactly. sometimes they do multi-session runs if the group is consistent enough but the DMs do a great job accommodating the fluctuating attendees week-to-week.
