A 30-year-old mid-budget dramedy that did okay, but mostly fell through the cracks.
But it is a top favorite of mine. I go back and re-watch it every couple of years, to remind me of the capricious nature of news media, and the things they decide to focus on. Despite predating cell phones and the Internet, I feel like this movie hits on a lot of universal truths that are even more critical today.
Also, it's just a funny, touching story.
All three of the main characters are excellent in it, Hoffman, Geena Davis, and Andy Garcia ... with a really nice supporting role by Chevy Chase.
And for anyone who's seen it, and been unimpressed, I'd love to hear opposing views. It kind of mystifies me, how this movie rates so low on Rotten Tomatoes -- especially with the audience rating.
