I'm glad that projects are opting to halt vs powering through with whatever bargain bin writer they can find. I remember a lot of projects from the last writers strike tanking in quality because they tried to carry on without their talent.
They're halting because the actors themselves are on strike.
There is no way to film anything until the AMPTP and SAG-AFTRA sign a new contract.
Going to be interesting to see how much is just scrapped. Be it the plan from the beginning or just the reality of it.
This could be what "kills" the current marvel trend. The movies have been under performing (because they're mostly worse to begin with), they have some major issues with their lead actor, and now a strike. God knows they've printed money and you'd think they'd want to continue, but the bean counters always squeeze out the quality first and then say it's not worth it to make more later.
Maybe it's where broadcasters start paying for more Indie movies and shows, which is great for talent and producers that would never even have had a look in before.
