I had to look up and see if I actually watched Season 3 of the Mandolorian or not. The amount of bland Star Wars content really drowned that out of my memory.

Looking back I think the highlight of season 3 was Bo-Katan. The whole not taking her helmet off and accidentally being a true Mandolorian as a result just makes me giggle.

Grogu did something similar with his decision to stay with Mando over training as a Jedi.

I have more faith in this being good and a hit than I do the Rey movie. And I didn’t even watch the last Mandalorian season due to lack of interest.

I think this movie could easily be good. It can also be painfully mid. It really depends on the plot they go with. If it's just Din going around meeting established characters for 2 hours then it's not gonna be good. There's plenty of plots they could do with "badass mercenary who has an adopted son who has superpowers and is cute" that would be much more interesting than whatever Mando S3 was.

Literally pick any lone wolf and cub storyline and go with that and they'd good. Hope they don't overthink it too much.

I can't be interested in whatever this film is going to be, nor the proposed S4 of Mando. It's just not there for me. What I'd really like is a well done Thrawn film or two, like the Timothy Zahn books, something short and sweet. I'd also like to see a film version of the Crimson Guard graphic novel series, talking about their origin (without it being a Marvel origin film, please) and the pseudo-Force side of the universe. There's plenty of good material there. But Disney has to be a bit different from what the extended universe set up, so I really try not to get my expectations up about any announcements.

I saw a video recently about how Disney is the one company where you know where their movies are going to be on streaming: Disney+. The name of the service makes that abundantly clear.
For other movies, people aren't as sure where it's going to end up. For all we know, it'll be shuffled around between all the big ones; a few months on Netflix, a few months on Amazon, etc., or if it'll be one of the unlucky films that is literally not on streaming at all and you have to pay $6 to rent it.
This means for Disney movies, people think "why would I pay good money to see this in theaters when it'll be included in this subscription I'm already paying for in a few months?"

There's also the other group of people: people who don't have Disney+, and as such haven't seen the shows they need to see to know what's going on in these upcoming Star Wars movies or in the MCU right now.

All that said, I wonder how well this movie is going to do. Grogu is a pretty popular character even among super casual fans, and even with all these announced projects there's been a big drought of Star Wars in theaters, so those 2 things might put butts in seats. The biggest issue might be not naming the film "Baby Yoda" instead; they'll have to bet on casual fans who might've genuinely forgot his name wasn't Baby Yoda seeing Grogu prominently on the poster.
