PGA, much like SAG, are ultra populist. Them nominating Anatomy makes sense to me, since it’s mostly a crowdpleasing thriller and court drama. But them nominating Zone of Interest is insane. Especially when there were other populist contenders they could have chosen. The Color Purple is a box office flop, and they don’t like nominating those, but they could have gone with Air, Across the Spider-Verse, Wonka, or The Iron Claw. That they went with a slow, foreign, art-house film is incredible.
