Everyone, and I mean everyone, trashed Borderlands from the get go, Kraven was mostly met with 'do we have to?' from audiences. Furiosa got a more lukewarm reception because... Well, the fanboys didn't like Max not having top billing... Joker is the only one I saw some cautious optimism about but also many "Joker: Pretentious Subtitle" memes.
For maximum pedantry, I feel that "fanboys" (and fangirls) are separate from "fans." Calling something for Fanboys is derisive and negative but I can agree that maybe I just read too much into it.
