It's so interesting to me that there are so much more occult stuff in today's mainstream North America than when I grew up in the 90s. Blood rituals, summonings, spiritual journeys, séances, ouiji stuff, spells and enchantment for power influence fame etc: there was always a lot in South East Asia. In NA, there's always been Halloween/horror movies/genre of R L Stein books, but not casually sprinkled into "regular" movies and "regular" indie games and most young adult novel. Anecdotally, people in North America are experiencing hauntings now like I heard about in SEAsia growing up.

But IMDB has Mother Mary listed as a costume drama too, so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
