and takes 25% for one Sony Movie. Disney also gets Spidey for one Marvel Movie, and Sony does whatever it wants with Spider-verse and Villain-adjacent movies and properties.

So it looks like they're at least staying together until the kid graduates.

EDIT: Clarity about Disney having Spider-Man for another movie.

At this point, I wouldn't have been surprised if Disney bought Sony just to secure those rights. All hail the mouse!

Yeah, Disney could totally buy Paramount out from under Sony, but I think this was always in the cards, because Sony and Disney both like money, and while Sony would love to keep Spider-Man and all his amazing friends all to themselves, we know a third part of the Homecoming trilogy was in the works, and setting him up as the future of the MCU on a cliffhanger where he's outed to the world, and not being able to reference the MCU is... a choice.

Spider-Man is probably my favorite super-hero and having him in stand-alone pictures sans MCU baggage would be fuckin great. I can't really get into those overblown super-hero movies, anyhow....

Oh..yea..they're making a Blade movie, too, right? Damn..I hope they don't shoehorn him into a cinematic-universe thing. Well, if they do...I'll always have Snipes to fall back to.

Honestly? Holland has been the only watchable Spider-Man for me. The standalone movies Sony did in the past just did not work.

I haven't seen Into the Spiderverse, yet, but I understand that's pretty good. Though, I'm looking for some classic superhero v. villain stuff rather than interdimensional shenanigans.

Also, does anyone else remember the Spider-Man FOX cartoon? I thought that was pretty damn good as a child. That and the FOX X-Men cartoon, which seemed to handle some mature subject matter for its audience.

All this talk about superheroes... better put on some art-house cinema tonight so I can maintain some level of "snob."

Watch. Spiderverse. It is probably the most down to earth version of Spider-Man, despite interdimensional shenanigans. And it's my favorite Spider-Man movie, and up there with Guardians of the Galaxy as my favorite Superhero Movie, bar none.

Light Spoilers - This is Why Because it KNOWS you have already watched a Spider-Man movie, and throws Miles into having to live up to being "the next" Spider-Man, while every other Spider Person around is looking down on him because he only just got bit a couple days ago. Even among Spider people, Miles is othered because he's too new, too different, too anxious and afraid, and has to fill impossibly sized shoes left by the most perfect Peter Parker of his world. But he learns that just because he's not Peter Parker, doesn't mean he can't be Spider-Man. The mask fits the face, so anybody can become Spider-Man, and Miles can't possibly do it wrong, because he CHOOSES to become Spider-Man.

I don't hate him, but he was never a good fit for the role. To be perfectly frank, I'm actually kind of tired of high school Peter, I want grown-up Pete. But Holland is the best they've had yet.

I wonder if creative gridlock from both parties was a major factor in this agreement. Far From Home makes Spider-Man such a huge part of the universe, and consequently ties so much of his story to the universe at large, that it seems impossible to cleanly separate everything out without at least one more shared movie.

Not surprising. There's too much money for both sides to rake in.
