Yeah I feel that Juggalos/ICP, in general, have often been misunderstood. Both the artist and their fanbase has had some missteps in the past, and I once had a different view skewed by those things and by media trying to paint them in a poor light, but through multiple people talking about it whether it be a friend, a documentary, others' description of their experiences- I've grown to view them in a positive light these days.

I liked them cause I was 12 and the dick and fart jokes, coupled with the weird undead dark carnival shit, appealed to my loner adolescent brain. The moral crusader's shook their fists at them and tried to tie them to same society "destroying" panic as heavy metal which probably helped their appeal I'm my eyes.

Hrm, I was raised and stayed in conservative Christian circles for the first half of my life, so rather than regular "media" it was probably the moral crusaders you're talking about which was part of the "media" I was ingesting at that time in my life, whether that be visual, audio, articles, sermons, who knows- and that just kind of ingrained itself in my head as media, though I wouldn't be surprised if mainstream news organizations took efforts to make things like the Gathering of the Juggalos look bad or w/e too (if one of the fanbase committed crimes or did drugs or anything the media could use as a "gotcha" for alarmist BS)
