Today while on the train I went on a Curbi binge, I've always loved his tracks, and the recent ones are quite good.

He's an electronic dance artist, mostly making future house.

I'd start with Lose our Minds and Vertigo, then listen to anything else. Flying - while a banger, and his most listened-to track on Spotify - is very rough on the ears, especially for people who don't actively listen to EDM and its noiser subgenres.

My favorite right now is 'Quick Highs' - make sure to check that out.

    Insomnium!!

Of all metal subgenres, melodeath is my favorite. And within that subgenre, Insomnium stands alone at the top. Not only do they have the heaviness and yet melody to compare to their peers, their Finnish melancholy intertwines and gives a nuance to their music that has influenced countless other bands in the past 20 years. Personally I always appreciate it when bands have members who aren't just coworkers but are friends, especially ones who've stuck together for years, and in Insomnium they've had one guitarist leave/be replaced, and then added a third guitarist later on with former Sonata Arctica shredder Jani Liimatainen.

If you've never heard this band before then I'd suggest one of their more recent songs, Heart Like a Grave, the title track from their second-most recent album released in 2019.

    My ranking of their releases:

    1. Above the Weeping World
    2. Heart Like a Grave
    3. Winter's Gate (a 40 minute epic)
    4. Shadows of the Dying Sun
    5. Across the Dark
    6. Songs of the Dusk EP
    7. In the Halls of Awaiting
    8. Where the Last Wave Broke EP
    9. One for Sorrow
    10. Argent Moon EP
    11. Weather the Storm (single)
    12. Anno 1696
    13. Since the Day It All Came Down
    14. Ephemeral EP
    15. Out to the Sea (split w/ Omnium Gatherum)

Nice recs from a fellow fan! They really do make some killer music although I wouldn’t put them alone on top ;). Finland in general just rule melo death.

You may enjoy this, then: https://centurymedia.bandcamp.com/album/dead-mother-moon A lot of people liking the recent old-school melodeath revival (Halo Effect, Majesties, etc) are digging Upon Stone.

Just found the track "sketches" by Seb wildblood the other day through a Tidal recommendation. It really hits a lot of the things I am looking for in music nowadays - downtempo moods and simplistic instrumentation. None of the other tracks off the album have particularly grabbed me yet, but I've also just been playing this on repeat for the most part.

It's been a mixed bag this week. Cirith ungol and reverend bizarre. Then nails since they were announced for damnation festival. Also a smattering of pop punk.

Been listening to a mix of music this week thats fun to have on repeat (in my opinion at least). Got some indie and psychadelic rock, K-Pop, J-Pop, and a few others.

    Some highlights:

    • Typhoons by Royal Blood

    • I AM by IVE

    • 물어 (Bite) by Baek Ho

    • Devil by SUPER JUNIOR

    • Polygondwanaland by King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard

I've talked about Royal Blood before and YouTube Music continues to recommend their songs and hasn't missed yet. Was a fan of this song from my first listen and it took a few listens for it to solidify its place in my repeat queue.

IVE was a group I'd heard of before but never really gave their songs a chance. Saw a meme edit of the MV for I AM and thought the song was catchy and it's become one of my favorites. They've got some great songs in general so definitely recommend checking them out.

Devil was a surprise recommendation in my YTM Supermix and it's such a fun song to listen to. It was only after watching the MV that I realized I've seen some of Super Junior's members in TV shows and never knew they were also singers. It has such a catchy tune.

물어 was on the soundtrack for the Korean rom-com drama Crazy Love and it's just so catchy. Heard it in the background of one of the scenes and I was more focused on the song than what was going on lol. Had to pause the show and spend a few minutes figuring out what the song was. Not the biggest fan of the drama sadly.

Finally, King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard. Friend mentioned them a few days ago and we listened to a YouTube radio of their songs and I wasn't that much of a fan. The name was stuck in my head though and eventually I got this song in my recommendations. Thought about skipping it but glad I didn't. Just love that bass.

I am in the same boat as in regards to King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard. I did not like them at first but they just get into your head, that you have to go back to listen to them. And because they do such a large variety of genres for their music and albums, to the point that if you don't like a album, you might like another of theirs because their discography is that wide. They're weird that way, I had found out.

And sorry about the drama, what was wrong with it? Did you watched all of it or did you dropped it? Just wondering, I'm not the fan of it because I haven't seen it yet (or never because it doesn't seem like something I would watch).

I watched all of it since it wasn't so bad I had to drop it. I genuinely liked the actors/actresses and the characters they played. The things I didn't like were the pacing as well as the romance sadly. The story would slowly progress over 2 episodes and then suddenly zoom in the next. The romance felt weird to me because the ML was so dominant and thr FL felt like a pushover. She could never fight back against the ML and it felt like he just forced her to date him. Overall it was decent but not something I'd watch again haha

Touche Amore - Is Survived By

    Deafheaven - Sunbather

They actually toured together and I regret not seeing that show. Would have been my first time seeing Touche Amore and the like...6th time seeing Deafheaven (highly recommended)
