Some pretty masterful choreography there. Single shot music video with multitudes of robots swinging heavy and harmful mirrors that do not care if a squishy human is in the way. Song ain't bad either.

Pretty wild! I wonder how many times they ran through it? I like how they're all so relieved at the end that they (finally) got it.

They posted a making-of video. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_EKQKF4qPPI They ran through 39 times to get it right. The video has a great segment starting at 13:22 where they have a split screen...

They ran through 39 times to get it right. The video has a great segment starting at 13:22 where they have a split screen of the video and an alternate view of what is going on outside the frame to make all the magic happen.

Those side-by-side comparisons of an OK Go music video with the behind the scenes view of their choreography are always my favourite part.

I am curious as well. Might find out later, they tend to do quite a few short behind-the-scenes videos since these are such big productions.

I find their music anywhere from decently good to pretty mediocre, but their videos are wildly entertaining. I think it's interesting that nobody else has tried to do the same thing, or really anything similar. I suppose anyone who did might be accused of being copycats, but I'm sure they could find another direction in which to head.

And I tell ya what, though - if you like their sound, you like all their songs.

If anyone reads this with negativity - it's not meant. I'm fond of them, but not enough to add to my music collection (which is incredibly minimal, combined with a few genres that I'll tend to just put on randomly and be find with random stuff). I respect what they're doing - it's delightful and intelligent. I probably would not have heard of them without the videos, and it's nice to see a new one from time to time.

As a theatre tech, one of the things I do really appreciate is that they do allow you to see some of the quick-change things. It truly is nice how the integrate it into the performance. :)

I think part of the reason there has been less people copying them is that OK GO had perfect timing. Here It Goes Again went viral, because it was a good song with a really cool video concept. The production quality of Here It Goes Again is nothing impressive, but at that time the standards on YouTube was lower. Through the years, cultural expectations of production quality has increased, but OK GO has managed to stay ahead of that, while growing in experience in creating more complicated videos. That has allowed for them to consistently get good viewership on their music videos (Love has more views on YouTube than plays on Spotify by a huge margin). In doing so, they have the experience to do more complicated videos and can expect to get higher views, and therefore OK GO are more likely to invest in complicated videos than other artists. Other artists would probably have to outsource more of the work and probably do it in more takes than OK GO to achieve the similar level of production quality that is impressive in 2025, while also proportionally getting lower views since they haven't built up a platform/expectation that their music video is worth watching regardless of how good the song is. In summary, OK GO has 16 years of experience creating complex music videos, so it is probably really expensive for other artists to compete with them in complex music videos that stand on their own as a video and not as a music video.
