I've wondered how much they've been phoning it in too at points. I don't think this album's high points were as high as Endless Forms's, but I think it's more consistent overall.

I'm kinda guilty of that too TBH. I have tried to get back into Nightwish with Floor as the lead singer several times, but I just can't seem to do it. There is something about her voice I just...

There is something about her voice I just don't enjoy as much as I did Tarja's, even though I can't put my finger on what that is. I do sorta feel guilty about it though, since I honestly don't blame the band for firing Tarja in the least (if the gossip about her ego and idiotic behavior behind the scenes is to be believed).
It's perfectly valid to not be into post-Tarja Nightwish, just recognize that you've moved on and don't write 0% reviews 😅 The reviewers expect Nightwish to still be doing the same thing as they...

My understanding at this point is that the band is more at fault than Tarja and that they did both her and Anette dirty. Writing not one but two songs talking shit about your former singer on the very next album isn't a good sign to me.
Tarja has a higher more piercing quality and she loves tremor in her voice, she's one of the best. Floor is a deeper sound, all the way down to the growling. Anette wasn't bad either, she just...

Anette wasn't bad either, she just didn't have the range of the others. It's amusing how one band can go through so many eras defined by their leading lady.
I'm just glad to see the compositions become more interesting again. Everyone in the band has been taking time for their own projects and then bringing some of that back for the new album.
I haven't really gotten into to Nightwish since middle school, but it sounds pretty good. A little more metal than I'm used to, but nothing wrong with that.

I have felt like Nightwish was phoning it in a bit with the last two albums. Tuomas has found some inspiration again.
