Offbeat Fridays – The thread where offbeat headlines become front page news

Tildes is a very serious site, where we discuss very serious matters like linux, rockets.reusable and louvre. Tags culled from the highest voted topics from the last seven days, if anyone was keenly observing.

But one of my favourite tags happens to be offbeat! Taking its original inspiration from Sir Nils Olav III, this thread is looking for any far-fetched offbeat stories lurking in the newspapers. It may not deserve its own post, but it deserves a wider audience!

Wildlife experts remove a plastic lid that was stuck on a Michigan bear's neck for two years. Happy for the bear that they finally removed it! Man imagine the relief.

If people wear chains why not a bear. Glad to know the bear was unharmed.

I personally think while this looks bad, it may work the opposite. Meaning that this may have helped the operator focus better.

Operating large, fast, heavy machinery is not the time to have both hands and part of your brain occupied. If you need movement, medication, sound canceling headphones, there are ways to accommodate this sort of thing, but I don't knit while driving my car, even if it can be easy for my mind to wander.
