I always get a laugh whenever someone tells me "oh but it's their choice to cross the border!" Yeah it is. It's America's choice to put them in these conditions for it. Works both ways

U.S. Customs and Border Protection agents are systematically violating U.S. and international law by blocking immigrants at international ports of entry on the southern border from entering the country so they can claim asylum.

It was never, ever about illegal immigration. That was the brand, the label, and the slogan, but that was never where they would stop. The administration and the Republican-led Congress have allowed and supported and encouraged this. They also moved money from FEMA. And they are arresting the legal (EDIT: The article I reference says they are arresting undocumented people; my counterargument is when has any story of any executive action in this administration not gotten worse as more details came out?) sponsors of these children. They are also declaring birth certificates as fraudulent and jailing citizens who have applied for a passport.
It was never about illegal immigration. This is about skin color. And we're the frogs.

Oh, thanks.
I'm surprised Nazi Germany wasn't mentioned in the article. We've always learned in school about this effect in Nazi Germany. If Hitler said "Kill all Jews" the first day in the office, they would throw him out. Instead, he rolled it slowly - publicly shaming them, disallowing them to apply for certain jobs and schools, publicly marking them, disallowing entrance of Jews into parks, cinemas and certain vehicles, banning them from school, police closing eyes when they were robbed - and then he started killing them.

Edit: typos
It's a reference to the boiling frogs metaphor.
@lmn More cartoon villainy for you.
