Yang has zero delegates. Would he get any in New York, or is there a minimum percentage needed like in other states? I was rooting for Yang, but I don't understand what he was doing here. Maybe...

I was rooting for Yang, but I don't understand what he was doing here. Maybe helping Sanders out?

There were many people who were outraged by what NY did. It's not just delegates; really the bigger issue is that the national primaries draw in people, who then vote down-ballot in many import local nominations. You shouldn't be able to just remove the primaries when you want to. Obviously in-person is a risk, but mail-in is fine.

Yang just happens to have money and now a loud voice.

I haven't read much about the effects and reaction. Is there a good article about this?

I think there could be interesting information in seeing who votes for who still, but Yang and Sanders dropping out contaminates the data.

New York is still holding a primary, they just decided to remove the Presidential races from the ballot.

They had already decided, weeks before this decision was made, to allow vote-by-mail for any reason (previously, New York state allowed absentee ballots only with an approved reason)

The null hypothesis / default choice would have been to leave the primary ballots as they are. The burden of proof should be on the people wanting to change them, to prove why it's necessary to change them at the last minute.

Any time you have mail-in ballots, you have the possibility that a candidate will drop out after the ballots are printed and mailed but before they're mailed back. A candidate dropping out is not sufficient reason to re-print all of the ballots, which is essentially what NY decided to do.

Here in Washington state, we're 100% vote-by-mail, and the primary ballot I used had (IIRC) Yang, Klobuchar, Buttigieg and Warren in addition to Biden/Sanders (who on our "election day" were the only two candidates still actively running). And it worked...just fine. Candidates who had technically suspended their campaigns probably got awarded delegates, I didn't follow the results closely enough to check. If so, who cares? They'll work that out at the convention. A Buttigieg delegate from WA should be equal to a Buttigieg delegate from Iowa or New Hampshire.
