He's rallying his base, and he's directly imploring the half of the country who voted for him to reject the results of the election, and I think many of them are primed to believe him.
EDIT: And there it is, he's trying to lay the groundwork for it going to the Supreme Court.
As has been said by virtually everyone "going to the Supreme Court" to say what? It's still not clear what legal basis he thinks he has to bring a case before them.

I don't think anything in his remarks were about what's actually right or valid. I think his remarks were entirely about trying to frame how people, particularly his supporters, should be viewing the current events. It's not about whether he has the basis to bring things to the Supreme Court but about projecting the image that he does.
Well, the thing is, it seems that just about everyone who actually matters has been largely ignoring him thus far. If the Supreme Court refuses to hear whatever case he tries to bring, it really...
Well, the thing is, it seems that just about everyone who actually matters has been largely ignoring him thus far. If the Supreme Court refuses to hear whatever case he tries to bring, it really doesn't matter what his supporters think unless we're gearing up for a full on revolution, which I sincerely hop we are not.
If there's one thing we've learned about Trump, it's that he doesn't really understand much. He knows that the Supreme Court was important in the 2000 election, and he's heard people talking about...
If there's one thing we've learned about Trump, it's that he doesn't really understand much. He knows that the Supreme Court was important in the 2000 election, and he's heard people talking about how cases involving this election might go to the Supreme Court. In his mind that has become twisted into "the Supreme Court can decide elections, we can take this election directly to the Supreme Court".
He appears to be making a victory speech... for an election he hasn't actually won. I'm desperately hoping that this doesn't end in a call for the military to intervene, and hoping even more that...
He appears to be making a victory speech... for an election he hasn't actually won. I'm desperately hoping that this doesn't end in a call for the military to intervene, and hoping even more that the military won't if called to do so.
Edit: And it ends with... nothing. No real call to action, just a bunch of whining.
My hope is a little different. I'm hoping he calls for the military to intervene, and they promptly remove him from office while he's making the speech. My understanding that that the military...

My understanding that that the military command (generally speaking) is very much not pleased with Trump. Especially if it is quite obvious that he lost.
That would certainly be... dramatic. It's not something I would ever hope for, but I do agree. My confidence in the military leadership valuing their oath to uphold the constitution over loyalty...
That would certainly be... dramatic. It's not something I would ever hope for, but I do agree. My confidence in the military leadership valuing their oath to uphold the constitution over loyalty to the commander in chief is actually very high, but it's still a position that I never thought I might see them placed in.
Selfishly speaking, I'm very glad I'm no longer wearing a uniform any more.

Yeah, I should have been more clear. I agree that the military isn't happy with Trump and even if they were they wouldn't be likely to support a coup. There's not really any realistic scenario in...

You can see in Trump's face he knows he's lost and is grasping at straws. This speech will surely be one of the history books. What a shitshow. And it's a prewritten speech he's just reading....

This speech will surely be one of the history books. What a shitshow. And it's a prewritten speech he's just reading. Someone wrote this!
Edit: And now it's sounding more and more like an attempt or rambling that might be his only concession speech? There are no references where Trump's suggesting he'll win anyway. He's just ranting.
Edit 2: "Biden should clarify that he only wants legal votes counted" This is just silly. The world's most powerful man until the 20th of January is just, yeah. I don't even have the words.

I hope not too, but, well...
He should be sent to jail for that. If he's pulling that kind of thing, he must be desperate.

I think the "military drags Trump out of the White House" idea is more of an internet fantasy than anything that would happen in reality.
Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Mark Milley held an off-the-record video call with top generals and network anchors over the weekend to try to make it clear that the military doesn't have a role in the election and that it's up to the courts and Congress to resolve.
Yeah, I should have been more clear. I agree that the military isn't happy with Trump and even if they were they wouldn't be likely to support a coup. There's not really any realistic scenario in which they drag him out of the white house.
Very much so. Just more of a 'if he does do dumb thing, he gets put in his place.'

Mail in voting corrupts, apparently?
