The "beacon of progressive policy" Amsterdam is being overtaken left and right. Coffee shops in Amsterdam still cannot legally source their marijuana.
We had some sort of momentum of forward thinking just around the time we legalised gay marriage in the nineties and then just.. stopped. All while up to this day claiming how tolerant we supposedly are.
Don't forget the amount of illegal weed production inside apartments happen when we have a housing crisis, and how it has contributed to growing crime rings. Its not the only factor of course, and...
Don't forget the amount of illegal weed production inside apartments happen when we have a housing crisis, and how it has contributed to growing crime rings. Its not the only factor of course, and with the harbour of Rotterdam we will always have all kinds of illegal trade from drugs to weapons, but it definitely helped.
There are things we do right, such as urban planning. But our weed policy was essentially a compromise that got stuck, and is something that seems to go down in history as yet another example of how no change is sometimes better than half arsed change.

Honestly? I'm not so sure this is a great idea.
Don't get me wrong, huge proponent of consumption sites, with BYO food. I think consumption sites should be able to have prepackaged snacks and be able to sell drinks.
But I look at America's unhealthy obsession with alcohol, and have come to the conclusion that I like a wall between entertainment venues and drug consumption venues. Half the reason drunk driving is such a large problem is because the alcohol and entertainment venues are so deeply intertwined.
Also because I can't take my kids to see bands at bars.
Advantage to indoor smoking: With proper HVAC and filtration (which could be a requirement for getting/keeping a license), you avoid polluting the entire neighboorhood with pot smoke. Especially...

I'm a little surprised that California is allowing indoor smoking, even if it's only in this particular type of establishment.

There are already indoor cigar lounges and i find a smokey pot room more pleasant than a smokey cigar room.
