I am astounded at the amount of police resources being dedicated to this investigation. I know the police are more likely to dedicate resources to anything in the headlines, this goes far and beyond anything I ever imagined. I am very glad I am not a ridiculously good looking chap with a history of anti-healthcare insurance views. The police are going to be very eager to wrap this up quickly. They often arrest the first person who seems to fit the description. They often deliberately suppress evidence that someone is innocent. Prosecutors will also often move forwards, based on if they think they can get a conviction, not if they think the person is innocent. Even if the courts determine this person is innocent, the damage will already be done. Lets all remember he is innocent until proven guilty.
Agreed, especially without a broader threat to the community. This wasn't a random act of violence which means in many ways it's far safer for the "community" than, say, a road rage incident.
It speaks to the same class divide of who gets what from, especially, the NYPD.
The discussion around this is probably going to devolve even further. I mean, who keeps the gun on them that long?? The conspiracy theories are gonna go off. Not to mention the mishmash of views that he appears to have according to his twitter posts.
I will say, the apathetic or positive responses to the killing were very much non-partisan. Even many on the right aren’t strong supporters of insurance executives.
Ben Shapiro got strong pushback from his fans about being all aghast about the black of empathy "from the left."
It's very much been a class consciousness moment IMO.
