The Premier of Alberta is making waves across Canada by being the only Premier out of all the Provinces and Territories to break with the united front of Canada standing up to Trump's aggression and threats of tarriffs.
The party that Danielle Smith is the head of, and is elected with the majority in Alberta, is the United Conservative Party, a union of the previous right wing Progressive Conservative Association of Alberta and the much further right Wildrose Party, the latter of which is infamous for supporting and spawning the terroristic Convoy a few years ago.
Some of her key policies since being elected have including weaponizing transphobia, destroying healthcare, attempting to steal half of the Canadian Pension Plan, and they are currently running phone call campaigns to ask about banning abortion.
Ontario's worst Premier ever, responsible for tanking our own healthcare and education and hyperfixating on things like bike lanes in Toronto, is somehow coming across as good in the face of all this. A former Trump fan himself, these recent aggressions have pushed him the other way and now he's standing up for Canada more than literally every other Conservative politician in the country combined.
To be probably too fair, having the half of the US flag without the canton would be super weird and you still get part of the leaf.
Looks like Danielle Smith has a flag for her Vichy administration. She gives Trump's stars and stripes top billing. She has blanked out our Maple Leaf with a battle cry for oil giants

Danielle Smith, Kevin O'Leary, and Jordan Peterson hosted by Donald Trump sounds like the world's most depressing cocktail party. I imagine they were all just there to kiss the ring, but can you...

On the other hand, I would pay cash money for a PPV Canada v USA cage match with the three of them against Mike Lindell, Marjorie Taylor Greene, and Ben Shapiro, but only as long as eye-gouging is...

Having lived in Alberta, I can imagine her stance might be popular enough to be dangerous. As long as she frames it as sticking up to Trudeau (who is now retired and inconsequential in this decision) she'll get support from her followers.
That's how you can't call anything she's done treason. I don't know what she's done that you'd call sedition, but I suspect it's not as clear cut as you say.
High treason
(1) Every one commits high treason who, in Canada,
(a) kills or attempts to kill His Majesty, or does him any bodily harm tending to death or destruction, maims or wounds him, or imprisons or restrains him;(b) levies war against Canada or does any act preparatory thereto; or(c) assists an enemy at war with Canada, or any armed forces against whom Canadian Forces are engaged in hostilities, whether or not a state of war exists between Canada and the country whose forces they are.
Treason
(2) Every one commits treason who, in Canada,
(a) uses force or violence for the purpose of overthrowing the government of Canada or a province;(b) without lawful authority, communicates or makes available to an agent of a state other than Canada, military or scientific information or any sketch, plan, model, article, note or document of a military or scientific character that he knows or ought to know may be used by that state for a purpose prejudicial to the safety or defence of Canada;(c) conspires with any person to commit high treason or to do anything mentioned in paragraph (a);(d) forms an intention to do anything that is high treason or that is mentioned in paragraph (a) and manifests that intention by an overt act; or(e) conspires with any person to do anything mentioned in paragraph (b) or forms an intention to do anything mentioned in paragraph (b) and manifests that intention by an overt act.

Other fun news involving her:
Looks like Danielle Smith has a flag for her Vichy administration. She gives Trump's stars and stripes top billing. She has blanked out our Maple Leaf with a battle cry for oil giants. (Note: This post is from a well-liked federal NDP politician who is retiring from office this year)
Alberta did NOT sign the joint communique at the end of the meeting with the Premiers and the Prime Minister. Danielle Smith is the only premier who didn't come tot he closing press conference. Here is what the other Premiers and PM agreed on.
Alberta premier Danielle Smith meets with Trump at impromptu Mar-a-Lago visit (NOTE: She attended this along with Kevin O'Leary, a much-reviled Canadian "businessman" who came to fame on our Shark Tank, and Jordan Peterson)

Bonus:
In the face of Trump’s threats, the man of the hour is... wait, Doug Ford?

It's the perfect answer to "who would be the 4 people you would least like to share dinner with".

What a match up! I'd throw in for that!

Danielle Smith is a traitor. Full stop.
Next time she goes to kiss the ring I hope she stays.
