I may be oversimplifying that a bit, but that's basically what I took away from it.
I'm wondering if any of them know they are being used for someone else's political agenda, and one that probably won't end up where they think it should go? I also wonder how many of them, as they age, will regret how they've acted now? Will they still feel this way when things are very different than they are today, and maybe the idea that they can now be "politically incorrect" won't be so much of a victory when our stable society is anything but.
Then again, maybe I've reached my Grandpa Simpson moment -- one day it'll happen to you too!
I read a tweet that compared these guys to the yuppies from the 80s. That was a response to the hippie stuff from the 60s and this is a response to the hipster/woke stuff from the 2010s. Not sure...

Not sure what to make of that, but aesthetically it makes sense. Especially when you look at the picture here.
I don’t really know what happened to yuppie culture, if they regretted it or not, so someone can enlighten us on that front.
It’s a slow pendulum but it’s always been there, swinging the “mainstream” from left to right and back again. Pretty ironic though that at the center of all this today is an app called TikTok.

I think this is just a different framing of youth rebellion. The mentions of a lot of smoking is part of it too -- they're rebelling against all the things they've been told about the way the...

From my point of view, yuppies are just boomers at this point. I am sure some of them regret their previous positions, but a lot of them probably do not. It's hard to generalize for an entire...

From my point of view, yuppies are just boomers at this point. I am sure some of them regret their previous positions, but a lot of them probably do not. It's hard to generalize for an entire generation like that. But given the accepted narrative of "boomers not letting go" I can probably make some assumptions about how they feel.
Everyone has their own mindset, but I feel the framing that makes the most sense is a cynical take where you say that both sides are attempting to manipulate people and are saying whatever they...

Instead they tell themselves that since they're choosing between TWO sets of liars, they should opt for the lie thats preferable. One lie tells young men that they can have everything they want and the other lie tells them they should feel bad about all the bad stuff going on in the world.
The former lie is more fun to act out. It doesnt matter what the partys proclaimed ideals are because those are all made up and arent really going to come to fruition in the long term.

I'm actually particularly interested in the opinions of the Republican party's conservative base — the ones who are pushing to ban abortions and contraception, cut access to porn, promote traditional Christianity in schools, etc. How do they react when they see their message for personal moderation and family values not merely opposed by their political enemies, but actively co-opted and inverted by their supposed political allies? Maybe most of them think that they can use these allies now and discard them later (or maybe even convert them), but I imagine at least some of them must sense that they are witnessing the last few nails in the coffin.
I really reccomend everyone watch Innuendo Studio's The Origins of Conservativism. It really sums up everything in a nice package which should get through to anybody whom is intellectually honest...

This article outlines something that I have been trying and failing to get left-leaning people to understand. These types have been gaining prominence since around 2014 in a big way, the ‘American Psycho’, ‘Wolf of Wall Street’ crowd, and they needed to be taken seriously.
Btw, has anyone else here noticed the subtle shift in coverage of Barron Trump? Notice anything about this article? Anything at all?
Lol, I’d bet money that the left will continue to drop the ball in very predictable, very unnecessarily self-defeating ways, and mostly because they suck at all things marketing. Meanwhile, Trump and his like have become masters at it — they know how to entice people, and, therefore, culture, towards themselves, towards preferring their ‘uncomplicated’, viciously intelligent and coordinated “movement” over the second-guessing, word-policing, and infighting of the left.
Some members of this crowd would admit to what they see as this coalition’s unsavory parts (say, how creepy the men can be) but refuse to do so on the record. Best not to cannibalize, they agreed, when the going is good.
Emphasis mine. They know not to do this because they’ve been observing the mistakes of their opponents and learning from them; we haven’t been doing that. Once again, marketing.
Also, the insistence on how normal they are. Remember the meltdowns that happened after Waltz called Trump and his MAGAers weird? Apparently, he was right on the money.
