...honestly I dont understand this team. Most years I can grasp what the team can or can't do, but this year's team is so bipolar that predictions are effectively worthless. Anyone who says they know is lying.
So we somehow came back to win our game against the Falcons despite being quite sleepy to start. Second half was all panthers and it really just had that air of "yeah, this is it. We win" even before overtime. Penix being injured hurt Atlanta, but I don't think that they win even if he was healthy. I do, however, believe that their coach is hugely responsible. They do have talent, they are just being mismanaged and I'm shocked he has not been shown the door yet. I guess they are waiting for the end of the year, but I knew this was a flop in the making the second they hired him.
Anyways, going back to my Panthers, let's talk about how last week I was starting to openly question Bryce and wondered if he was going to truly develop... and then he throws for a franchise record of 448 yards, 3 TDs, 0 INT and a 123.2 passer rating. He owned that game. He chewed through the strong pass defense of Atlanta as if it were nothing. I guess he is powered by the aura of people thinking he can't do it or something.
Our next game is Monday night against the 49ers. I genuinely think we won't win, but I really cant say anymore when it comes to this team. I just want to say we were competitive.
As a fan of the Bills and Baker Mayfield, that Bills Bucs game was great, highlight of the week and didn't need to watch anything else.
FRAUD WATCH 2025:
🚨
Denver Broncos🚨🎶 BO! BO! BO! IT'S MAGIC! YEAH, BO-OH-OH! NEVER BOLIEVE IT'S NOT BO! 🎶
No PS2, no JK Dobbins, no passing touchdowns, no respect, no problem. Another last minute win means we have officially entered the Tebow Zone for this team. Hopefully they take a leap next year (as the 2012 Broncos did) because history does not favor teams who win a lot of one possession games.
Overall, I thought this was one of the best games from Nix this season. 24/37, 295 yards, two sacks, no turnovers, and most importantly, only one or two boverthrows. It's not eye-popping stuff, but it was great to see him poised for all four quarters. I'm not sure what Riley Moss did to the head of officiating, but he gets some of the worst calls against him (though in fairness, he also commits a lot of penalties where he is guilty).
Now they get a week off after a rough travel schedule that had a Thursday game, a London game, and two 1pm EST kickoffs. Things are looking pretty good going forward, but they still have a ways to go with three division games, a game against the Packers, and a game against the AFC West destroying Jacksonville Jags. If Nix can settle down and play like he did on Sunday, and if Moss & co can cut back on the penalties, then this team might get the number one seed. I can't believe it.
As for the rest of the league, it was a fantastic RedZone/Witching Hour experience this week, especially in the 1pm slot. Allen and the Bills played great in an exciting match, the Bears dipped another toe in the Tebow Zone, and the Panthers and Texans both won on walk off field goals. Not sure what to think about the Seahawks. Are they amazing for almost winning the game despite 4 INTs from Darnold, or this what we should expect in big moments from him?
As a fan of both Miami and Washington this was an interesting week. I went into the game not really caring who won. Both teams are doing poorly this year, so I just kind of had fun watching the mediocrity unfurl in Madrid. I'm sorry Spain, you truly deserved better than two touchdowns and a bunch of field goals.
Anyway, about halfway through the game when things were still tied up, my brother (big Commanders fan) proposed a friendly, $10 wager. At a certain point we decided if the game ended with a tie we'd just send each other $10 for laughs, but then the Dolphins intercepted in OT and got a field goal. So I won! And Miami has a chance at a narrowly winning season if they don't screw up the rest of the season.
