I hope Ohtani gets traded not just because I hope to watch him in the playoffs but also because I have no idea what would go in a trade package for such an exceptional player. He might be the best hitter AND best pitcher to be traded this deadline!
I've had this conversation with a couple people, but the Angels are in a really weird spot. No package they accept for Ohtani will be equal in value, but holding onto him for the rest of his contract will ultimately net them nothing. So, they have to bite the bullet here and are gonna come up short.
Honestly, I think it depends if Ohtani is willing to re-sign. The Angels would probably offer as much money as just about anyone, but if he wants to play for a better team you are right.

First significant trade came through overnight! Angels make it clear they are buyers and will not trade Ohtani.
Brewers finally make a move! Happy with this one, though I think we need to add a(nother) big bat still.
If the Dodgers do land Verlander, he and Lynn would be quite the improvement for that rotation. Add in Kershaw, Urias, and Miller and you have a formidable five man group.
I was at the game on Saturday and Joe Kelly got a standing ovation when he came into the game, too. Fun atmosphere.
