The Mets are going to sneak up on people this year. Everyone knows the starting pitching is great, but the bullpen is much improved and I love the lineup going into opening day. It's looking a solid young core (Conforto, Nimmo, McNeill, Rosario, and the rookie slugger Pete Alonso) anchored by two solid veterans imported during the winter, Robinson Cano and Wilson Ramos. What is really refreshing about the lineup is the move away from a home run or bust offense. Now they've got guys who make contact and can hit the ball to all fields. It's was really a pleasure to watch in spring training. Baseball like it oughtta be!
As usual, the big question with the Mets is health. If they can keep their best guys on the field, they will be knocking on the door of the playoffs. If not, it will be another long summer. It feels like this is the first time in years we're coming out of spring training without a dozen guys on the DL so I'm cautiously optimistic about this part.
I'm optimistic about the Cubs this year. They won 95 games last year with Bryant and Darvish injured, and even though they fell apart at the end of the season I have faith that they'll turn it...

They won 95 games last year with Bryant and Darvish injured, and even though they fell apart at the end of the season I have faith that they'll turn it around this year. The big question mark going into opening day is pitching. Eventually Jon Lester will regress, Kyle Hendricks had a relatively down year last year, and I have no idea how Darvish will do. But at the end of the day, the Cubs won the World Series and I'm at peace with whatever happens next.

i'm looking forward to yet another colorado team perennially disappointing despite absolutely having the firepower to contend for a playoff position. recent colorado sports teams legitimately seem to only have two states of being: fucking up, and fucking up in such a way that they happen to win it all despite having no business doing so.
god, fuck if i'd know. the rockies are consistently such disappointments even when they're actually good that they usually play third fiddle to the avalanche and the the broncos (and this year,...

How do Rockies fans feel about bringing in Daniel Murphy? He should be pretty fun to watch hitting in Coors every night.
