I would kill for those prices. At Citi Field it's $14 for a Heineken! Can confirm. I've had those tickets a few times. You can't see the field from the Foxwoods Club, but you get a beautiful view...

Meanwhile, stadium concession prices have risen to insulting levels, even considering the minuscule decrease to the average cost for a beer ($5.97), hot dog ($4.95), and soda ($4.60) in the 2019 season, per Team Marketing Report.

I would kill for those prices. At Citi Field it's $14 for a Heineken!

For example, let’s say you buy a ticket to see the Mets play at their home stadium. You may not even realize until reading the fine print that your $65.00 ticket includes access to the Foxwoods Club. You never really asked for or wanted access to the Foxwoods Club, but now you have it, and so in the fourth inning you decide to walk over and see what it’s about. What you will find is a large room that that looks like an airport bar and contains all the charm of a mall food court.

Can confirm. I've had those tickets a few times. You can't see the field from the Foxwoods Club, but you get a beautiful view of the parking lot. There's also the exclusive Jim Beam bar, where you actually can see the field, if you manage to get one of the few seats by the windows. Otherwise it's just a crappy bar inside the stadium, serving the same drinks you can get elsewhere in the stadium. The only thing these areas are good for is waiting out a rain delay. (Although the Porsche Grill is kind of nice - pretty good buffet and it's air conditioned, which is great during those hot and humid August games. Muy expensivo though.)

I go to five or six Mets games each season and would do more if I could, but it's just so damned expensive. Between tickets, food and drinks we're looking at $120 to $150 per game. It's just too much to make it anything more than a monthly event - and that's if the team is actually any good. If they stink like they did for the past couple of years it's not worth it.

I will say I've at least found decent 14$ beers at Citi Field or MSG when I've been there for concerts, e.g., Sofia & Matilda, the farmhouse beers from Goose Island (and unlike say, the 312, these are actually quite good). If you're gonna try to sell me a ridiculously overpriced beer, it's gotta be at least decent or I'm a hard pass

I have a bit of a skewed relationship with this article because while I have noticed that the cost of baseball games has gone up for me, I also moved from a Midwestern state with an awful team to a team that actually wins the World Series occasionally. So I assumed that the change in the market was what caused the issue.

Baseball tickets are the best value in entertainment as far as I can tell. I can get Twins vs. Tigers tickets for $8 each on SeatGeek and bring my own food in because it's not against the rules at Target Field. That's an evening's worth of fun right there.

Let's hope it stays that way and MLB doesn't ruin things. Let's hope the Twins remain not that great, too!

I'm moderately jealous. I can remember when I use to be able to get tickets to see CLE play for $8-14. Now I'm sitting in the cheap seats for $40 a person (assuming its not a big game like against a rival, playoffs, or opening day), paying $4.50 for a bottle of water because its 85 degrees and I'm not allowed to bring my Nalgene in with me, and paying whatever cost of a meal is because it takes so long to get to the park from my apartment that I need to eat at some point while I'm out. I keep going to games because they are the cheapest sport in my city, it's a sport most of my friends feel neutral-to-positive about so I can get groups to go, and they are outside and (hopefully) in the sun instead of what I normally do, which is sit locked down in my apartment with the shades drawn. Also because IMO they are fun (duh).
