If you're just going to go wild and try and get votes with moonshots, might as well go big and propose eliminating work on Fridays. I'd vote for that candidate.

I really like using this for times when I've parked my car in a massive parking lot, or maybe in a large field. This three word technique has worked for me, although typically GPS works just as well. It's easier to give someone three words than it is to give them latitude & longitude coordinates, though.

I live in Minnesota and we have gotten record-setting cold and snow over this last month. I've noticed myself getting depressed and angry about stuff much more than I do usually. Just by coincidence, I started playing Zelda more on my Switch. Somehow, making Link walk around in the nice forests and mountains has affected me outside of the game! I feel less pissed off! Give this technique a try if you're in the same boat I am this winter.

Also, I was about to sell this game because I hated it, now I'm loving it. No prior game has caused me to simultaneously love and hate a game. Weird.

I'd prefer if people posted articles that weren't behind paywalls, but it skeeves me out to link to services which are just copying the content and reposting it. I work at a newspaper that charges for subscriptions. Those subscriptions, plus advertising, are how we afford to make the articles available. Don't do an end-run around it. Either pay for the subscription if you want to read the article, or don't read the article.

That said, gambling on the game while sitting in the stands does sound pretty sweet. I think I'd be worried about another NBA ref being on the take though, like Tim Donaghy was.

I think hanging out is coming back in fashion. This past weekend, I was out having dinner with my wife at a upscale casual restaurant near our house. The table next to us had 4-5 teenage or early-20s girls at it, chattering nonstop. It was refreshing seeing them talking about stuff instead of being on their phones.

They were Muslims, so I don't know if it is a cultural thing, but it had been a while since I had seen people in that age group being that social without constantly looking at their phones. I'm 40 so I am officially out of touch with what young people are doing. Apologies if this sounds like an old asshole who knows nothing; that's what I am basically. Still, things seem to be getting better!

The trick is to reframe your listening so that the screaming becomes part of the music, like another instrument. I remember when it all clicked for me. It was not while listening to grindcore. I was at an Isis concert (well, they were opening for the Melvins) and the vocals were mixed to be the same level as the rest of the music. Of course it was unintelligible, but that was fine.

I think that with grindcore, the vocals kind of act like percussion. The drums tend to be so crazy fast that the rhythm gets lost, but then the vocals carry the rhythm a bit. I've never played in a grindcore band though, I might be missing the mark a little bit.

Grindcore music. People generally consider it to be barely even music, and I won't argue that. However, there's something about all that sound occurring in such a small window of time that fascinates me. I can't listen to more than an album's worth of grindcore in a sitting, but man, Brutal Truth is one of my favorite bands. It's like avant-garde jazz; it just gets my mind spinning.

I'm not surprised that we're reading an interview with this guy. It seems like he is itching to tell people that he only has one outfit. (Well, except for his formal wear and weather-related stuff.)
