      Could you give some examples of other pressures? I’m interested in how this rule will go down when the star players it applies to start getting season/career ending injuries. Also I’m not so...

      Could you give some examples of other pressures? I’m interested in how this rule will go down when the star players it applies to start getting season/career ending injuries. Also I’m not so familiar with medical privacy in the league but how much can the league verify in the case a players reports as injured?

        It’s hard to be specific, but I’d guess things like the league selectively enforcing other rules, keeping money making opportunities (or prime time games) from the offending team, starting lengthy investigations, or leaking negative stories to the press. In general you don’t want to piss off your business partners. Like you said, I think it’s hard to know if a guy is resting or really hurt, so they’ll probably only go after the most egregious cases: it’s all about optics.
