Not sure I agree with that now though(and I remembered that I stopped playing after the first chapter to wait for the rest to come out). Anyway super looking for ward to the rest and hoping I don’t need to replay everything to remember all the details and characters.
Absolutely loved Silk Song. Personally the difficulty felt just right for me. Even the long run backs didn’t bug me too much as the movement felt wonderful. Silks song felt easier than Hollow Knight to me, and much easier than Elden Ring/Dark Souls. The only thing I didn’t like was the shards for tools, but pretty much just stuck with the needle and hunters crest 95% of the game.
Had fun getting a switch 2 on launch day. After trying to get a pre order and finally getting one for delivery, I went to Target with my wife and kid the morning of as we heard they had some. Lo and behold we got one and did t have to wait for the GameStop shipping which arrived a fees days later. It felt silly and petty, but really fun getting my first launch day console since the game cube 24 years ago. Mario Kart was pretty fun, but nothing like a Zelda or the later Silk So g would be for me.
My top unexpected experience was playing Onion Delivery in UFO50 along with the Eggplant Presents podcast. The whole year long experience was incredible, but Onion Delivery was a game that I bounced off of in about five minutes the first time I tried it. The controls and map were completely unapproachable to me. But since I had a whole week of time to focus on this one game, I played it for an hour or two each night and slowly figured it out. The sensation of learning the coordination and information in a game is pretty rare for me now. I would say most games I get a sense of in twenty minutes and then gradually improve, but this felt like I was a young kid again learning how to stumble around the control scheme and map. I love counter intuitive experiences, like how going fast in Onion Deliver is the safest way to drive and heal. I love the natural fluency you gain spending thoughtful time with something. The map became a network of landmarks and signposts in my head (many in the Eggplant Discord compared this to The Knowledge London cab drivers posses. These feelings were so rewarding and the progression felt great. Even with improved skill and knowledge I still barely managed to get the basic win condition before the episode aired. I was extremely releaved and satisfied to a degree I only feel a few times a decade from games.

Nathan Fielder seems like the opposite of this. He’s intentional directed his shows to make the audience constantly question if this is an act or real. Like a comedy magician, the audience is literally fearful of the safety of everyone involved.

The explanation of something arranged so that it benefits from additional computations for free is unclear to mean when the writer uses the term later. I also have no understanding of how the words bitter lesson pilled conceptually would mean that.

It's super effective, and as far as I know it was used by restaurants for a long time, so what made it popular for home cooks and home cook media? I need a Miranda Priestly-esque flow diagram of how popular techniques and recipes come around.

I’m looking for any and all info on why they chose this home after looking at so many. This looks like a major undertaking so combined with the hunt for inheritors, I’m really curious what is uniquely good here! I hope they go into it more, but I’m really confident they will do a great job and build a gorgeous house in the end!

So I think the non-exposure works really well. I am more concerned when he’s older at an age when the kids in his class start getting phones and the social norm of what kids his age is conflicts with what we do.

I am not super into comics or comic book movies, but I usually find them more fun and endearing than I had expected before watching. This seemed like worst I had seen since Wonder Woman 84, which I enjoyed for at least beating entertainingly bad. Even Eternals had some nice locations. This one just felt completely lifeless to me, what many might describe as “felt like ai wrote it”.
Since Godzilla Minus 0 was just announced, the first one has definitely been in my mind. And these two movies have really similar plots. I don’t think FF:FS can really be spoiled, but the premise of an unstoppable force is coming how can we deal with it is pretty classic for a reason. Basically any given scene in GM1 gave me more reasons to care about anyone than the entirety of FF:FS. I’m pretty shocked to see how highly rated it is. Thunderbolts felt pretty flat to me too, though. So maybe I’m just jaded.

I think I would fall off after getting distracted by another game or just life and then forgetting where/when everything was going one.
The only criticism I have for this game is that the first few hours are absolutely sublime and there’s no way anything could keep up that standard. There are plenty of moments that reach those heights later on, but the concentration of unforgettable moments, music, mechanics, etc in the beginning is unparalleled. The trial scene made one of the strongest impressions on me of any kind of art when I first played it in 2004.
I loved being able usually to see enemies before you encounter them. I had not played many helps, but random encounters like Pokémon always felt like crashing a car into a wall. I loved the music. I loved how all the eras felt cohesive artistically while feeling completely different and being rich enough to potentially be their own world.

I haven’t seen anyone mention Castle Crashers or Towerfall. They are older but really fun multiplayer games.

I would rather Facebook (and the others) never existed, but I can't deny that it was extremely useful for me from 2006-2014 or so. I made so many more connections through it. I have so many great photos people tagged me in. It was so much easier to plan parties and other events. It was just great being able to say "I'm going to be in this city these days" and people you knew could message you. None of these use cases have alternatives (including current FB) that reach the same level of utility, convenience, or user experience.
A social media service that actually helps you get more out of real world connections could be great. It's harder than ever (post-covid, getting older) to meet people and I don't think that's healthy or good for life in generally.
Maybe my concept of social media is different because I don't really see any of that coming about in the possibilities brought up in the article.

I got used to it being that way with a Japanese keyboard layout and could never go back.
This was so much fun to watch and participate in! I had thought about it a lot since the survey was posted.
When I personally think of games, I think of them as evaluations of some kind or hypothetical or simulated event. The results could have real, long-lasting impacts beyond the scope of the game, but the scenario itself is somehow contrived. This makes a math test a kind of game to me in the same way war games are games. Sports are kind of contrived versions of war/hunting/physical tasks, thus games to me.
I also think games can be layered onto none games (cow paddy bingo). Or layered onto other games(sports betting). The key ingredient is “let’s see what happens in this situation”, regardless of intent or control. This definition covers things like Conways game of life all the way to Jigsaw’s Saw set ups.
For things like jigsaw puzzles, I think the question being evaluated is “will I be able to finish this?”
Now, when we talk about games colloquially, there is a lot of context. If someone invites me over to play games, I would be really surprised if we all worked on coloring books. But I would be maybe even more surprised if they handed me a paint roller as I walked in the door and said “Let’s see who can’t paint the most walls!” The second case seems more game like to me even though it’s less expected.
