I had family at the Thunder game sitting in the stands when they told everyone to get out. Apparently they brought out the halftime show entertainers early to keep people occupied while they decided what to do with the game... Luckily Gobert wasn't in the arena at all, and OKC thus far has no confirmed cases, but that's sure to change as testing (hopefully) picks up.
I'm kind of in shock at this. The Jazz/Thunder game was abruptly cancelled right before tipoff. The Jazz's center Rudy Gobert was listed as out tonight due to illness and even though it hasn't been confirmed r/nba is speculating that he has coronavirus.
The press release in the tweet does say that someone tested preliminarily positive. And yeah, right after Gobert rubbed all the mics at an interview, wonderful: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0qxtxIVtOZE
It is in fact Gobert. All of the Thunder players are getting tested tonight.
He's going to get hell from every single player in the league. The salary cap will almost certainly go down next season. Literally every player is going to make less as a result of him.
Or is it his fault? Tbh, that's kinda debatable. But he'll definitely be the scapegoat.
What a fucked-up year we've had.
