Finland is known for its strange "sports". Other examples include anthill sitting and swamp football.
How could you neglect the prestigious sport of wife-carrying!
Or their drunk uncle rules baseball.

Before I even read the comments I found myself wondering if Finland was also the home of the wife carrying sport. Glad to see my instincts were correct lol.
Scandinavia in general seems to excel at them. the Swedes invented rabbit show jumping.
some of the Danish championships are on youtube:
2009
2010
2012
2013
2014
2015
2016
I'm trying to take this seriously and having a great deal of difficulty. I can see wanting to do an analogue of showjumping without the horse as an athletic sport - some of the high-jumps were pretty impressive, and doing them at a run looks like it takes a great deal of skill and strength. But the wooden horse-on-a-stick just seems superfluous and bizarre if that's the goal. And doing dressage with a hobby horse? I can't wrap my head around that.
If it helps, this all started with 6 year old kids doing it and got out of hand for some weird reason.
I've yet to see a adult or even a teenager riding one of those things, but then again, older hobby horsers are probably not riding the sticks in public. Theres a group of about 5 children in my neeeeighbourhood that do this. One of the fathers build a set of obstacles for them.
Oh, I didnt mean that adults or teenagers dont do this, I meant that I've seen a lot of kids doing this in the local park etc (here in Finland). Havent seen any adult or teenager even holding these things, outside of the competitions and other events.
If the hay is white, fluffy and made out of sugar, you'll make a lot of money.
Or if you go to the young adult event, bring some green hay...
Have I mentioned lately how much I love the Finns? It's like an entire country of only children. I feel like I'd be quite at home there.
Well.. as a 30something year old Finn who feels (and sometimes acts) like a 12 year old... I dunno, welcome, I guess?
Bring your own towel, leave all your clothes in the dressing room before entering the sauna. Beer optional but highly recommended.
Yeah... yeah, that's all about my speed.
