The early web forums were so heavily skewed towards geeks and nerds and otaku that the Experience Project stands out in my memories as someplace very much for what we could now tongue-in-cheek call 'normies' because it was all about real life things instead of hobbies/fandoms. I think I wound up on it a few times because someone linked a thread here or there, but otherwise it was an area of the web I steered clear of since reddit and Tumblr served much of my 'Does anyone else' needs, and the few times I stumbled onto there it was like a foreign land.

So many fanfiction and fansites. RIP A SailorMoon Romance. RIP the entire FictionAlley fansite network. And the dozens if not hundreds of mini shrines dedicated to the OTPs you never expected to become canon but thought were fun anyway. RIP Geocities and Xoom and Tripod and Angelfire, you gave us weird nerds free places to proclaim our weirdest and wildest fan theories and share our usually terrible fanart.

More mainstream: RIP the Television Without Pity forums, the dirty details and gossip you shared have yet to be replicated and may never be in PrimeTimer and IMDB trivia.

I wonder if this was just an old cult of personality that died with the old forums, or if this was an early internet version of 4chan meets Goncharov.

I remember many, many years ago a study was done that indicated that people in happy marriages experienced less stress. It was the source of much 'duh' eyerolling, but I remember realizing that just because something is assumed to be true, doesn't necessarily mean it will hold up under scientific scrutiny. When it doesn't is when we all stare gobsmacked because reality =/= our commonsense, but there's no way of knowing whether it's going to be a duh conclusion or a WTF conclusion in advance.

I had zero luck with online dating because it was impossible to filter through the genuine messages in the onslaught of spammy hookup messages. I also noticed that the amount of spammy single line 'hey' messages from men dropped exponentially as my age went from 25 to 30. Turning 35 basically killed all online interactions from men in the age range I was interested in (my own or older), but I did start picking up messages from guys in their very early 20s, each one desperately proclaiming how mature they were for their age and how they'd always preferred mature women.

YMMV. Good luck, may you catch better fish than I did.

I know there's not a lot I can do to reduce the sugar or replace the flour in a box mix, but I struggle to get certain nutrients and so I try to sneak them into my foods where possible. It's less how do I turn junk food into health food and more 'Well, I'm eating this anyway, what can I add so my body gets something out of it?'

Your very specific advice on how to add dry/wet ingredients is fantastic! Thank you!

For example, if I want to add ground flax to a brownie mix or oats to muffins? What if I want to add some extra dried blueberries to boxed blueberry muffin mix? The box instructions usually say 1/4 cup of oil and 1 egg, and I'm wondering if I need to double both or either if I want to add some more dry ingredients. Or is there maybe a max level at which I don't need to add extra oil/eggs, like a quarter cup at most of oats?

I know baking is a science and ratios are important, but still it'd be nice to have a way to make storebought convenience mixes a wee bit more filling or healthier. I'm used to substituting applesauce for oil in brownies, but I'm curious what else I could do with a storebought mix.

They would have no incentive to do this if they felt the PR would be bad.

You're assuming the decision makers are level headed and open to listening to the concerns of those smarter and more plugged in than them.

At a certain point, given sufficient enabling via money and power, it is indeed possible to be completely disconnected from reality and believe wholeheartedly in your own delusions to the point that any contradictory information just does not penetrate at all.

Or meatless Japanese curry with lentils instead of rice.

And not strictly vegetarian, but four seasons beans (干煸四季豆) that's light on the meat is always one of my favorite more-veggies-please meal to order in restaurants. Wonder if a facsimile could be made with the Impossible/Beyond 'meats' out now.

Stir fried baked tofu slices with ground meat and veggies is chefs kiss for healthy delicious meals.)

I am so, so relieved that so many of my fellow ADHD-ers are using the pile system.

I have seasonal piles! AKA summer stuff moves to the bottom during winter and vice versa. I do keep to a very limited color palette that allows for pretty nearly anything to go with anything I grab out of the pile. Even when I had a full closet and everything hung up neatly, I found myself just opening the one closet door and grabbing from the same ~9 inches of hanger space.

Out of sight, out of mind is a serious problem for me.

Ouch. Would she be old enough to really enjoy and remember it?

The theatre is once again a pastime of the elite.

This raised an interesting additional potential factor to decreasing theater attendance in my mind: given the increasing consolidation of wealth to an ever decreasing pool of people, there's fewer elites to buy and fill the seats at the various hoity toity performing arts venues. The middle class used to be able to afford theater as special treats, but far less so now.
