Some background for non-US Tilderinos - college football in the US is as big or bigger than our professional league (the NFL). American football doesn't really have a minor league or any sort of promotion / relegation system, so college football plays an enormous role as the feeder system for professional teams. It far exceeds what any non-American would picture as "college students playing sports".

And within college football, the SEC is a juggernaut, probably the most competitive conference. The last 5 years, one or both of the teams in the college football championship has been from the SEC.

The NCAA makes billions of dollars every year. The coaches get paid millions. And the players get...nothing. Literally, nothing. They're "student athletes" which means, by the NCAA's logic, it'd be unethical to pay them. Some of them don't have enough money to eat.

And now, here's the NCAA, admitting (though to its players and not directly to the public) that covid cases on every single team is completely inevitable and there's nothing they can do to prevent it.

(except shut down, of course, but there's way too much money at stake for them to consider that as an option)

Is Tilderinos our official demonym now? If it’s still being decided, I’d like to put forth Tildesans or Tildos as candidates.

tl;dr is that there was no consensus on a name, and Deimos didn't seem inclined to pick one by fiat. I think there's unlikely to ever be one "official" demonym.
